Biography - Russ Arsenault (Host)
Russ has been in construction for his entire life. As far back as he remembers he’s been building forts and castles by the river and playing make believe wars with his five brothers.
Up until two years ago, he was a Toronto Police Officer, but he gave that up to pursue a long-time dream of running his own landscaping firm.
While on the force, Russ worked as a trainer at the college, and took on the role of mentor when it came to training new recruits. He always enjoyed teaching others, and it’s a role that he continues with his company today.
With the success of his landscaping company growing everyday and a new wife by his side, life couldn’t get much better, which is the main reason Russ is so eager to be a part of Postcards from the Rez. The idea of giving back to his community and meeting other First Nation people to teach them the skills to prosper is very exciting for him and his brother.
Truth be told, it has only been in the last three years that Russ has really searched out and embraced his Aboriginal roots. Both brothers are very eager to learn more about their Mi’kmaq heritage.
